On March 7, 2018, attorneys from Mayerson & Associates will be travelling to Monterrey, California to co-sponsor and participate in the annual conference of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA). At this conference, attorneys and advocates learn about the latest trends and court decisions. This year, Jean Marie Brescia will be co-presenting with Hearing Officer Barbara J. Ebenstein, providing a two-day program to train non-attorney advocates to support parents at impartial hearings. Also representing the firm at this year’s COPAA conference are attorneys Maria C. McGinley, Jacqueline DeVore and Susan Wagner.
On March 23, 2018, Gary Mayerson will be attending and presenting as a panelist at New York Law School’s special symposium on the evolution of the “FAPE” standard from the Supreme Court’s 1982 decision in Rowley to the high court’s more recent 2017 decision in Endrew F., where Mayerson & Associates had an amicus role. Gary also will be introducing special guest speaker Clifford Rowley, the father of Amy Rowley, the student in the Rowley case.
